The installation of an underground irrigation system should be a
relatively painless process. Finding the right contractor is of the
utmost importance; here are a few tips to keep in mind.
Look for qualifications make sure this company is a licensed or even more important a certified irrigation contractor, not a person trying to convince you that his home improvement license is good enough to install your system, it’s not.
Make sure the proposal states the water pressure both static and most importantly the gallons per minute. Without this information there just isn’t anyone who would be able to design a proper system.
Make sure you know exactly how many rotors, mists, size of poly, and the pressure rating of poly they intend to use.
Find out what type of backflow they will be installing and if that type is approved for your area.
Find out the spec’s on the timer to be used if dual programs are available, if the clock is water restriction compliant, if the warranty is longer than the system warranty. Make sure a rain sensor is included in the estimate.
Make sure the head spacing and nozzle selection provides you with what is referred to as a true precipitation rate, assuring equal water distribution to the turf area.
Ask
for a list of homeowners who have used this contractor, find out if
there
were
questions what the response time was.
When comparing estimates check apples to apples if there is a large price difference try to find out why.
Hope this list will help you make an informed decision.
